2020 Sprint Masters - Competitive

Intermediate Masters is a program for more goal-oriented adult paddlers. If you want to get a personal best time at a regatta, become a proficient marathon paddler, or just enjoy going fast on the water this program is for you. Topics and skills covered will include racing strategy, training philosophy, performance paddling technique, racing starts, interval training, and team boats. Intermediate paddlers are strongly encouraged to compete in more than one of the summer Masters Regattas. Athletes are expected to be able to maintain 6-8 minutes to travel 1000m.

Program Details
  • Able to paddle in a minimum of a Nelo Classic or Hody k-4 with the goal of being able to paddle in a Nelo vintage or Vanquish by the end of the summer.
  • Previous paddling experience required
  • Membership Required
  • at least 25 years of age 
  • Minimum Participants per session: 6, Maximum Participants per session: 9
  • Participation in the 3rd practice on Saturday requires you to be in this program as well if selected.


Advanced Masters is a program for adult paddlers who want to push themselves to their limit on the water. Kayaks and canoes are welcome – as long as they are fast! Workouts will focus on developing peak speed, anaerobic capacity, and refining minute technique details to shave precious seconds off personal bests. High Performance paddlers are strongly encouraged to have their own boats/paddles and to train on their own on other days of the week. Advanced paddlers are strongly encouraged to compete in more than one of the summer Masters Regattas. Athletes are expected to be able to maintain 4-6 minutes to travel 1000m.

Affiliation Fees:

  • Affiliation fees are mandatory for all athletes in the competitive program and only need to be paid once during the season. Affiliation Fees include CanoeKayak Canada, CanoeKayak Ontario, CKO Sprint and Eastern Ontario Division.
