Intro to Sprint Paddling is an introductory camp for the Olympic sport of competitive Sprint Canoe Kayak for U14 aged athletes (born 2007- 2012) and provides all the necessary skills to start paddling canoes and kayaks competitively. The goal is to teach good training habits and a love for being outdoors and on the water.
Paddlers will learn about water safety rules and how to balance, paddle, and train in sprint kayaks and canoes. Each practice they will do a warm up, practice/work out, and cool down.
COVID-19 Safety Measures
- We will be running half day Summer programs to ensure that there are not too many athletes at the club at once and we can respect social distancing (see schedule and dates below)
- Athletes are asked to bring their own life jackets
- The canteen is closed
- We will have a Parent/Athlete Info Meeting on Zoom to explain what to expect at camp and the safety procedures
- Groups will not mix with other groups
- Equipment will be sanitized after use
- Flow of traffic patterns will be in place on the hill for getting on and off the water
- Rules are in place for when athletes need to be rescued by a motorboat, or go into the boat bay to retrieve equipment
Paddlers must demonstrate a minimum swimming ability before getting in a boat. For more info on the Swim Test, click HERE.

REFUND POLICY:
COVID-19 Flexible Reschedule/Credit/Refund Policy
As a non-profit organization, the RCC relies on revenue from our paddling programs to provide top
quality recreation and competitive training opportunities. If your program is affected by COVID-19 we ask that you to consider the first two options first:
- RESCHEDULE - If a program is cancelled or you are not able to participate at the predetermined time due to a COVID-19 related reason, our preferred option would be to work with you to determine if your program can be rescheduled to a time that would enable your participation this season.
- ACCOUNT CREDIT - If rescheduling is not possible, we are asking registrants to accept a registration credit that could be used towards future programming held at a later date in 2021 or 2022.
- If the two options above are unacceptable to you, we will refund the full amount of your registration fee.
This Policy applies to programs scheduled to start May 1, 2021 or later. It may be adjusted or
rescinded by the Club as the situation evolves and regulations are updated by Ottawa Public Health, the Province of Ontario and/or the Government of Canada . All cancellation/refund requests not associated with the current COVID-19 situation will follow the Club’s standard Refund Policy.
