2022 Fitness Paddling

Our Most Popular Program! Looking for an alternative to being in the gym? This program is for you!

Fitness paddling sessions are designed to offer paddlers the opportunity to combine a fantastic core work out with basic to advanced kayak drills, techniques and games. Each session delivers a structured workout program offering low-impact training with high-impact results.

Participants can use their own boats, paddles, or those provided by the Club.

In line with our Covid-19 policies, equipment will be sanitized between each session. View the latest Covid-19 policies here.
Access to the clubhouse will be limited and participants must arrive to the session prepared to paddle. Access to the washrooms from the outside will be available.

Program Details

Spring/Summer/Fall 1: Monday/Wednesday 6-7:30 PM

Spring/Summer/Fall 2: Tuesday/Thursday 6 AM - 7:30 AM

Spring/Summer/Fall 3: Tuesday/Thursday 6-7:30 PM

Prerequisite: Intro to Sea Kayak or equivalent experience
Minimum participants per session: 6
Maximum participants per session: 14
Please note sessions on Statutory Holidays will be moved to the Friday of the same week.
Minimum age is 16

What to Bring

Transport Canada Approved PFD (life jacket)
Comfortable, loose fitting clothing preferably made of quick drying fabric (you will get wet!)
Enough water for the length of the session
Sun screen
Hat, sunglasses, rain jacket & pants (if needed)

Should you take the Intro to Sea Kayak session?
1. Have I ever received formal instruction?
2. Do I currently or have paddled several times a season? At Least 1-2 times a week.
3. General experience in other flat water paddling boats like sand-up-paddling, canoe, etc.
If the answer is no to question #1, you should register for the Intro to Sea Kayak session. The other 2 questions provide general indication of water experience.

Inclement Weather
Canoe Fun kids can still have fun in the rain! However, if there is heavy rain, gusty winds, thunderstorms we can not be on the water. If inclement weather is forecasted on the Weather Network we will cancel the session and will contact you (up to 30 minutes prior).

Program Prerequisites: Introduction to Sea Kayak Course or equivalent experience

*Please note that sufficient kayak experience is mandatory for participation. If you have any concerns about your experience, please email recreation@rideaucanoeclub.ca

REFUND POLICY:

Registrations are only considered final when full payment is made.
NO REFUND will be issued once the session has already started.
NO REFUND will be issued if cancellation is done within the week before the session.
If cancellation is done at least 4 weeks before the start of the camp, a refund will be issued less a $50 administration fee.
If cancellation is done at least 2 weeks before the start of the camp, a refund of 50% will be issued.
All cancellation/refund requests must be done in writing to the RCC Administrator and Program Coordinator. All refund requests will take up to 2 weeks to process.

COVID-19 Flexible Reschedule/Credit/Refund Policy

As a non-profit organization, the RCC relies on revenue from our paddling programs to provide top
quality recreation and competitive training opportunities. If your program is affected by COVID-19 we ask that you to consider the first two options first:

RESCHEDULE - If a program is cancelled or you are not able to participate at the predetermined time due to a COVID-19 related reason, our preferred option would be to work with you to determine if your program can be rescheduled to a time that would enable your participation this season.
ACCOUNT CREDIT - If rescheduling is not possible, we are asking registrants to accept a registration credit that could be used towards future programming held at a later date in 2022 or 2023.
If the two options above are unacceptable to you, we will refund the full amount of your registration fee.

This Policy applies to programs scheduled to start May 1, 2022 or later. It may be adjusted or
rescinded by the Club as the situation evolves and regulations are updated by Ottawa Public Health, the Province of Ontario and/or the Government of Canada . All cancellation/refund requests not associated with the current COVID-19 situation will follow the Club’s standard Refund Policy.
