Who is this Regatta for
This regatta is for all Rideau Canoe Club athletes who are U12 and U14. Brand new athletes can participate, as well as experienced athletes who have been paddling for several years.
Goals and Expectations of this Regatta
The goal of this regatta is a fun day of racing experience and to test out crews for the racing season. Races will be a mix of singles and crews, so athletes will have the opportunity to race in a variety of events. Coaches will be putting together crews with the intention of testing out different crew options in preparation for the championship season. Athletes should practice racing skills, including forming a race plan with their coach before the race, and debriefing with their coach afterwards to make improvements for next time.
Being close to home makes this regatta super easy to participate in. For most people this will be their first regatta of the year. CP also has excellent spaces for parents to set up tents and lawn chairs along the course to watch the races.
Coaches will supervise the athletes on Sunday while at the course. There is often a canteen or food truck found onsite if you would like to buy snacks, but athletes should pack a lunch to ensure they are bringing enough good that is of the healthy variety.
DRAFT Schedule
A rough estimate of the day is that the regatta will be held from 8:00am until 5:00pm. This should include a lunch break in between.
Cost Breakdown
The only costs will be the entry fee, which is $45 per participant.
