    This half-day course will turn land-lovers into proficient paddlers. Open to anyone looking for a safe, informative, and fun introduction to flatwater canoeing. Areas covered include movement skills, boat care, entry/exits, safety, and selecting proper equipment. Participants will be able to use their own boats, paddles, and PFD/lifejackets, or those provided by the Club.


    Program Details:

    Minimum Participants per session: 6; Maximum Participants per session: 12.

    Introduction to SUP 

    The “What’s SUP” intro class - Learn how to Stand Up Paddleboard with Paddle Canada certified RCC instructors. You will learn the basic skills to maneuver the board and be safe on the water. All boards and equipment will be provided.

    Program details: 3-6 participants per class, 1.5hrs

    Program Prerequisites: None

    *All participants must pay a one-time insurance surcharge of $2.00. This covers any SUP programming throughout the 2016 season.

    Equipment: All the necessary equipment is provided for each SUP session, including the board, paddle, & life jackets. If you have your own equipment you are more than welcome to bring it for the session, but it is not necessary

    Introduction to Sea Kayaking introduces the novice to paddling a sea kayak in calm, sheltered waters. The focus of this half-day course is to provide skills essential to being comfortable day paddling in a group environment. The course participant will build on their expanding paddling skill set, and be introduced to rescue techniques that incorporate the use of a paddling partner. Participants will be able to use their own boats, paddles, and PFD/lifejackets or those provided by the Club.

    Spring 2017 Rec Private Lessons

    Our most popular program! Fitness paddling sessions are designed to offer paddlers the opportunity to combine a fantastic core workout with basic to advanced kayak drills, techniques and games. 

    Each session delivers a structured workout program offering low-impact training with high-impact results. Looking for an alternative to being in the gym? This program is geared for you! 

    Participants will be able to use their own boats, paddles, and PFD/lifejackets or those provided by the Club.

    Program Details:

    Minimum Participants per session: 6; Maximum Participants per session: 14; 

    Please note sessions on Statutory Holidays will be moved to the Friday of the same week.

    Recommended Program Prerequisites: Introduction to Sea Kayak Course

    *Please note that sufficient kayak experience is mandatory for participation. If you have any concerns about your experience, please email recreation@rideaucanoeclub.ca

    Fitness SUP is designed to give paddlers the opportunity to combine basic to advance SUP technique, drills, and games with a great workout. Each session will consist of a structured workout so you can get fit while having fun on the water!

    Facilitated by qualified instructors. Participants will be able to use their own boards, paddles, and PFD/lifejackets or those provided by the Club.  

    Minimum participants per session: 3; maximum participants per session: 8

    Please note sessions on Statutory Holidays will be moved to the Friday of the same week.

    Recommended Program Prerequisites: Introduction to SUP

    *Please note that sufficient SUP experience is mandatory for participation. If you have any concerns about your experience, please email recreation@rideaucanoeclub.ca
