  Intro to Sprint Paddling is a 2 week introductory camp for the Olympic sport of competitive Sprint Canoe Kayak for U14 aged athletes (born 2010 - 2015) and provides all the necessary skills to start paddling canoes and kayaks competitively. The goal is to teach good training habits and a love for being outdoors and on the water. Paddlers will learn about water safety rules and how to balance, paddle, and train in sprint kayaks and canoes. Each practice they will do a warm up, practice/work out, and cool down.

  Paddlers must demonstrate a minimum swimming ability before getting in a boat. For more info on the Swim Test, click HERE. 

  

  What to bring to camp: 

  The Rideau Canoe Club will provide all the necessary paddling equipment except for the life jacket.

  • Life Jacket (Transport Canada approved)
  • Comfortable, loose fitting clothing preferably made of quick drying fabric (they do get wet!)
  • Water bottle 
  • Sun screen
  • Healthy lunch and snacks are needed for each day.

  • U12 (2012-2013)-Mon, Wed, Fri 6 pm- 8 pm; Sat 10 am- 12:30 pm - $250
  • U14 (2010-2011)-Mon, Wed, Fri 6 pm- 8 pm; Sat 10 am- 12:30 pm - $250

  * No training on Sat June 22 *
  

  Intro to Sprint: Summer #1 – July 2 - July 12 

  • U10 (2014-2015) - Monday- Friday 9 am- 12 pm - $540

  REFUND POLICY:

  • Registrations are only considered final when full payment is made.
  • NO REFUND will be issued once the camp has already started.
  • NO REFUND will be issued if cancellation is done within the week before the camp.
  • NO REFUND will be issued if a participant has to leave a camp due to disciplinary issues.
  • If cancellation is done at least 4 weeks before the start of the camp, a refund will be issued less a $50 administration fee.
  • If cancellation is done at least 2 weeks before the start of the camp, a refund of 50% will be issued.

  • All cancellation/refund requests must be done in writing to the RCC Administrator and Program Coordinator. All refund requests will take up to 2 weeks to process.

  2024 Canoe Kids Summer Camp

  Weekdays 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  Kids aged 7 to 12

  The Canoe Kids Summer Camp is a one week full day camp with an introduction to all aspects of safe paddle sports. Campers will enjoy canoeing, kayaking, and stand up paddle boarding (SUP). It is a program suitable for beginners as well as for those with some previous paddling experience.

  When:

  • From July 2 to August 16, 2023
  • Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Holidays - July 1 & August 5 there are no camp.

  Pre-Requisites: 
  

  • Campers must be 7-12 years old during the camp session
  • No paddling experience is required 
  • Canoe Kids participants must demonstrate minimum swim ability, if campers cannot complete the swim assessment they will not be able to continue in the camp**
