2020 Canoe Fun Summer Camp

NEW WITH CHANGES DUE TO COVID-19

The Canoe Fun Summer Camp is a modified Canoe Kids Summer Camp that follows the public health guidelines for summer camps about COVID-19. 

There are three options:

Weekdays AM 9:15 to 11:45

Weekdays PM 1:15 to 3:45  

Weekends Saturday and Sunday 12 to 3 PM

The Canoe Fun Summer Camp is a one week half day camp with an introduction to all aspects of safe paddle sports. Campers will enjoy canoeing, kayaking, and stand up paddle boarding (SUP). It is a program suitable for beginners as well as for those with some previous paddling experience.

When:

  • From June 29 to August 28, 2020
  • Monday to Friday, 9:15 AM to 11:45 AM OR
  • Monday to Friday, 1:15 PM to 3:45 PM
  • Weekends: August 1-2, August 8-9, August 15-16, August 22-23
  • Holiday Wednesday, July 1st and Monday, August 3rd there is no camp.

Pre-Requisites: 

  • Campers must be 7-12 years old during the camp session
  • No paddling experience is required 
  • Canoe Fun participants must demonstrate minimum swim ability, if campers cannot complete the swim assessment they will not be able to continue in the camp**

*DUE TO COVID-19 CAMPERS MUST BRING THEIR OWN TRANSPORT CANADA APPROVED LIFE JACKET

What to bring to camp: 

The Rideau Canoe Club will provide all the necessary paddling equipment except for the life jacket.

  • Life Jacket (Transport Canada approved)
  • Comfortable, loose fitting clothing preferably made of quick drying fabric (they do get wet!)
  • Enough water for the 3 hours at the camp.
  • Sun screen
  • Healthy snacks are needed for each day.

**Prior to getting in boats participants must show they have the ability to roll into the water and swim 50 metres (any stroke) and stay afloat (tread water) for 1 minute (as per the National Lifesaving Society Swim to Survive standard). Swim ability is assessed without a life-jacket or other flotation device. If your child is nervous about this process we welcome you to swim along with your child to ease the nerves

REFUND POLICY:

  • Registrations are only considered final when full payment is made.
  • NO REFUND will be issued once the camp has already started.
  • NO REFUND will be issued if cancellation is done within the week before the camp.
  • NO REFUND will be issued if a participant has to leave a camp due to disciplinary issues.
  • If cancellation is done at least 4 weeks before the start of the camp, a refund will be issued less a $50 administration fee.
  • If cancellation is done at least 2 weeks before the start of the camp, a refund of 50% will be issued.
  • All cancellation/refund requests must be done in writing to the RCC Administrator and Program Coordinator. All refund requests will take up to 2 weeks to process.
