Weekdays AM 9:15 to 11:45

Weekdays PM 1:15 to 3:45

The Canoe Fun Summer Camp is a one week half day camp with an introduction to all aspects of safe paddle sports. Campers will enjoy canoeing, kayaking, and stand up paddle boarding (SUP). It is a program suitable for beginners as well as for those with some previous paddling experience.

When:

  • From June 28 to August 20, 2021
  • Monday to Friday, 9:15 AM to 11:45 AM OR
  • Monday to Friday, 1:15 PM to 3:45 PM
  • Holiday Thursday, July 1st and Monday, August 2nd there are no camp.

Pre-Requisites:

  • Campers must be 7-12 years old during the camp session
  • No paddling experience is required
  • Canoe Fun participants must demonstrate minimum swim ability, if campers cannot complete the swim assessment they will not be able to continue in the camp**

*DUE TO COVID-19 CAMPERS MUST BRING THEIR OWN TRANSPORT CANADA APPROVED LIFE JACKET

What to bring to camp:

The Rideau Canoe Club will provide all the necessary paddling equipment except for the life jacket.

  • Life Jacket (Transport Canada approved)
  • Comfortable, loose fitting clothing preferably made of quick drying fabric (they do get wet!)
  • Enough water for the 3 hours at the camp.
  • Sun screen
  • Healthy snacks are needed for each day.

**Prior to getting in boats participants must show they have the ability to roll into the water and swim 50 metres (any stroke) and stay afloat (tread water) for 1 minute (as per the National Lifesaving Society Swim to Survive standard). Swim ability is assessed without a life-jacket or other flotation device. If your child is nervous about this process we welcome you to swim along with your child to ease the nerves

COVID-19 Flexible Reschedule/Credit/Refund Policy

As a non-profit organization, the RCC relies on revenue from our paddling programs to provide top
quality recreation and competitive training opportunities. If your program is affected by COVID-19 we ask that you to consider the first two options first:

  1. RESCHEDULE - If a program is cancelled or you are not able to participate at the predetermined time due to a COVID-19 related reason, our preferred option would be to work with you to determine if your program can be rescheduled to a time that would enable your participation this season.
  2. ACCOUNT CREDIT - If rescheduling is not possible, we are asking registrants to accept a registration credit that could be used towards future programming held at a later date in 2021 or 2022.
  3. If the two options above are unacceptable to you, we will refund the full amount of your registration fee.

This Policy applies to programs scheduled to start May 1, 2021 or later. It may be adjusted or
rescinded by the Club as the situation evolves and regulations are updated by Ottawa Public Health, the Province of Ontario and/or the Government of Canada . All cancellation/refund requests not associated with the current COVID-19 situation will follow the Club’s standard Refund Policy.
