2025 Community Dragon Boat Program

Join our Learn to Dragon Boat Program to get introduced to Dragon Boat paddling or to refine your skills for the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival in late June. Continue in the Summer Sundays as you continue to develop your dragon boat paddling skills, meet new people and network with paddlers from different teams. 

New in 2025 - Summer Sundays paddlers will develop their paddling and race strategy skills as they work towards participating in the RCC DB Regatta on August 23, 2025.

New in 2025 - Fall Paddling to allow paddlers to extend the season, enjoy the fall colours on Mooney's Bay and make new connections.

Participants can use their own paddles, or those provided by the Club.

Program Details:

Learn to Dragon Boat: May 18 to June 8 - Sundays - 4:30 - 6 PM

Youth Intro to Dragon Boat (13 to 17 years old): 
May 18 to June 8 - Sundays - 4:30 - 6 PM  

Summer Sundays: July 6 to Aug 23 - Sundays - 4:30 - 6 PM
(RCC DB Regatta - Aug 23, 2025; no paddling Aug 3)

Fall Paddling: Sept 7 to Sept 28 - Sundays - 4:00 - 5:30 PM - UPDATED

What to Bring:
  • Transport Canada Approved PFD (life jacket) and paddle, if you want
  • Comfortable, loose fitting clothing preferably made of quick drying fabric (you will get wet!)
  • Enough water for the length of the session
  • Sun screen
  • Hat, sunglasses, rain jacket & pants (if needed) 

Inclement Weather
​Paddling Programs can still have fun in the rain! However, if there is heavy rain, gusty winds, thunderstorms we can not be on the water. If inclement weather is forecasted on the Weather Network we will cancel the session and will contact you (up to 30 minutes prior).

REFUND POLICY:

  • Registrations are only considered final when full payment is made.
  • NO REFUND will be issued once the session has already started.
  • NO REFUND will be issued if cancellation is done within the week before the session.
  • If cancellation is done at least 4 weeks before the start of the session, a refund will be issued less a $50 administration fee.
  • If cancellation is done at least 2 weeks before the start of the session, a refund of 50% will be issued.
  • All account credits are valid for 2 years from the date of issue. A refund on an account credit will be issued less a $50 administration fee.
  • All cancellation/refund requests must be done in writing to the RCC Administrator and Program Coordinator. All refund requests may take up to 2 weeks to process.
