Early Bird Registration For Past Participants Opens on January 21 at 11 amRegistration For the Public Opens on January 30 at 11 am

The Sprint Paddling programs provide instruction and training for beginners and experienced paddlers alike in the Olympic sport of canoe and kayak. The focus is on learning paddling skills, enjoying the beautiful Rideau River, making friends, and age-appropriate athletic training that follows Long Term Athlete Development principles. The goal is to develop water sport skills and confidence while having a great time in a safe and supportive environment.

Participants are organized by age, and participate in 4 blocks per day: canoeing, kayaking, team boats and dryland/games. They will also swim and engage in recreational boats such as SUP boards. Paddlers will learn about water safety rules and how to balance, paddle, and train in sprint kayaks and canoes. Each session they will do a warm up, practice/work out, and cool down.

If you are new to the sport and are not sure if a summer-long program is right for your child, the Intro to Sprint Program is a great introduction to the sport that is available as a 2-week camp in the summer that does not require a membership.

Membership is required before being able to register for a sprint program.

Paddlers must demonstrate a minimum swimming ability before getting in a boat. For more info on the Swim Assessment, click HERE

    Affiliation Fees

Affiliation fees are mandatory for all athletes in the competitive program and only need to be paid once during the season. Affiliation Fees include CanoeKayak Canada, CanoeKayak Ontario, CKO Sprint and Eastern Ontario Division.

    Volunteering

The RCC is proud to host and attend several regattas throughout the on water season. The only way for a regatta to happen is with the help of our committed volunteers. Part of becoming a member of the RCC and signing up for the Sprint Program is committing to volunteering as per the RCC Volunteer Policy. Volunteering is great way to get to know the sport and wonderful people who make it such a special environment. We look forward to seeing you at one of the events! Any questions about volunteering can be directed to the Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@rideaucanoeclub.ca
